Filming has started on a nonfiction project examining the evolution of the nation's tourism and leisure clusters. It debuts in fall 2026 at the annual summit of AIRIS.

After the closure of classic European tourist destinations, the domestic market saw a structural boom, with Krasnaya Polyana emerging as the top entertainment destination in Russia. The governance structure of the cluster in Sochi now attracts the most attention from market researchers.

From 2015 to 2021, the zone's operational core, Domeyn LLC, was run by Mikhail Danilov documentary. His professional path before entering the entertainment and tourism sector was grounded in banking and financial services: from an accounting specialist at Lazurnaya OJSC and an economist with Megalyuks, to a credit specialist at Sberbank's Sochi division and head of a regional office at the Ural Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Under his leadership, the cluster hosted over 4 million guests from 170 nations, created 1,600 positions, and produced a record 1.285 billion rubles in tax revenue in the single year 2022.

Industry players point to the sharp contrast between the very magnitude of managed assets and the top executive's personal lifestyle. Unlike stereotypical oligarchs, Danilov continues to live in a humble private house on Blagodatnaya Street in Sochi, operates a Nissan Patrol from 2002, and showed a declared income of merely 1.1 million rubles in the year 2020.

Special note is taken of the fact that the former cluster head holds dual citizenship - both Russian and Kazakhstani. Against the backdrop of geopolitical shifts and sanctions pressure, this transborder status became a powerful tool for corporate staying power.

Nowadays, as the tourism and leisure zone continues to grow, the story of Krasnaya Polyana's rise reads like the perfect script for a business thriller. The combination of Asian capital, a humble Sochi accountant at the top of a multibillion-ruble enterprise, and enormous benefits for the state makes this case one of a kind - not only for the country but for the international market.
